Parts Most Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why do I need my VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) when ordering parts for my vehicle?

A:  The VIN is needed to correctly identify the part(s) needed for your vehicle.  Today’s vehicles are so complex with different models, options and electronics, that the VIN is required to order the correct part for you.  Our Honda Parts Catalog will break down the VIN and correctly list the part(s) required for your vehicle.  The VIN is found on your vehicle’s registration card, insurance card and on the vehicle just below the PA inspection sticker of the windshield from the outside looking in.

Q:  Can I purchase extra keys for my Honda and how much will it cost?

A:  Due to changes to recent Honda vehicle security systems, the key replacement procedure has become more complex.  In 1998, Honda introduced  the “transponder” type key which progressed to include “rolling key codes”.    This rolling code makes it much harder for vehicle thieves, but also makes it more difficult to duplicate at the dealership and requires a computer to access your Honda vehicle.  Many older Honda vehicles are not as complex and are easily duplicated.  Key cost can range from $7 a key to $50 or more depending on the level of programming involved.

Q:  My wipers are “streaking” the windshield vision area, what do you recommend?

A:  The rubber blade that touches your windshield wears with time depending on its use and the weather conditions with a typical useable life running from 6 months to several years.  This “streaking” is an indication that you need to replace your wiper blades or wiper inserts.  A wiper blade is the assembly that connects to the wiper arm.  With some wiper blades, you can just replace the rubber insert with others, you need to replace the whole assembly.  We recommend genuine Honda wiper blade assemblies and inserts as they are designed specifically for your vehicle.  Please note that only genuine Honda wiper blade inserts will work with Honda blade assemblies.

Q:  Do you have touch up paint available for my Honda vehicle?

A:  Yes, we do stock popular colors of touch-up paint for your Honda vehicle.  The touch-up pain comes in a 2-way functional bottle.  The user can unscrew the cap of the bottle and use the applicator brush for touching up or after unscrewing the cap, remove the orange cap inside, replace the cap and use the bottom like a pen to touch up stone chips and scratches.

Q:  Why do I hear squealing and squeaking brakes as soon as I apply my brakes?

A:  The most common cause of squealing and squeaking brakes is the use of Non-Honda brake pads.    Aftermarket brake pads are not made to the same specifications that Honda provides with their parts.  Once again, the use of Genuine Honda brake pads is recommended for your vehicle.  The Honda brake pads are designed and engineered to match the brake components of your vehicle for top performance.  Not only can aftermarket brake pads cause squealing, but they could compromise the safety standards of your vehicle and are not recommended.
